This modern, open plan bungalow was designed to ensure a seamless indoor-outdoor living experience. Slim sliding doors with flush thresholds connect each of the ground floor living spaces with a large patio terrace space, sheltered from the elements by a two-field contemporary louvre roof system.
Sets of vertical blinds were integrated into the design across each of the three exposed sides of the louvre roof. The blinds were specified as semi-opaque to allow some light into the space when lowered, while blocking much of the intense heat of the day from entering. When retracted, the blinds are cleverly concealed in minimal boxes hidden against the roof structure.
In the cooler evenings, the blinds and aluminium louvres can be opened to allow the homeowners to enjoy the expansive views across the outdoor pool and coast, from the comfort of the cosy outdoor seats and table on the patio. Warm spotlights were installed at regular intervals around the outer frame of the louvre roof, to provide gentle lighting throughout the evening.
